Hockney Tapestry
Inspired by David Hockney and his drawings during his first visit to Egypt as a young man. Anūt’s tapestry employs Egypt’s traditional hand-appliqué technique known as khaymeya, a technique that started in Ancient Egyptian times but was made popular for tent making in Cairo in the 13thc. This bold design in striking colours is made from hand-woven cotton fabric from Akhmim, Ancient Egypt’s historic weaving capital.
