We’re proud to collaborate with the potters of Fayoum - an oasis at the edge of a vast lake, soft dunes on the horizon, and fields of palms and sunflowers. The village’s quiet, magnetic energy nurtures a community rich in talent. Our partnership spans more than 20 artisans, and our relationships are close and ongoing. We love the exchange of ideas - sketching together, testing clays, and dreaming up new shapes - while always respecting the integrity and individuality of each maker. To preserve that personal voice, one artisan crafts each design from start to finish; no two hands have the same touch. Working from their own studios, artisans use clay from the banks of the Nile in Aswan. Every piece is shaped by hand, painted, and fired in gas kilns to achieve a glaze particular to Fayoum: slightly glossy, richly hued, and unmistakably their own.
